Tour #1

Envision: A Magical Musical and Sustainable Journey through Costa Rica

Join the Envision crew as we visit some of the most epic spots in Costa Rica before arriving at our final destination  --  the Envision Festival in the Southern Pacific Zone of Costa Rica.  On this coast to coast trip we visit incredible places and attractions while exploring the ecology and permaculture possibilities of the rainforest.  As musicians and music enthusiasts our nights will be filled with live music and local culture and, of course, always the most exotic and unique foods.

Begin the tour with adventure, rafting class 3 - 4 rapids on the Pacuare River. The river is considered one of the five most scenic rafting rivers in the world as it slices through the jungle covered cliffs.

After rafting we continue on to the Caribbean town of Puerto Viejo.

Our day begins with a hike through the Kekoldi Indigenous Reserve with an indigenous guide, learning about the culture and customs of the Bribri indigenous people.  During the two-hour hike through successional rainforest ecosystems, the guide explains the how the Bribri use the rainforest as their principal source of food and medicine.  Spend the afternoon at Punta Uva, where the rainforest abuts the sea.  At night we hit the town and and move our bodies at one of the beachfront reggae bars.

February 22-24, 2013

Begin the day hiking along the jungle-clad coast through primary and secondary rainforest with a local Caribbean guide to the Punta Mona Center for Sustainable Living. The center is an 85 acre educational organic farm, botanical collection and retreat center dedicated to alternative education by example. We will spend two nights here and will spend our days on farm tours, chocolate making, snorkeling, ocean kayaking and discussing permaculture, medicinal plants and sustainable solutions. Our nights will be filled with music and celebration around the beachfront fire circle.

Depart Punta Mona by boat early and head from Manzanillo to the rainforest outside of Puerto Viejo to experience zip-lining.  Fly through the canopy, experiencing the flora and fauna in the treetops.  After lunch we head off to San Jose and en route stop at an epic fruit stand to sample some of the abundance that the wet tropics has to offer.   That night we will get a taste of the San Jose music scene.

After breakfast travel to the quaint town of San Mateo de Orotina to visit La Ecovilla, a planned permaculture community planted extensively with lots of food and delicious tropical goodies as well as ponds stocked with Tilapia fish. Enjoy lunch harvested from the farm and jump off boulders into the crystal clear waters of the Machuca River. Late afternoon we travel along the Pacific Ocean to eco-community of Fuente Verde in the mountains outside of Dominical.

Spend the morning exploring Fuente Verde exploring different ways of confronting the challenges of living sustainably in community. In the afternoon, travel to Uvita and let the Envisioning begin!!!

Envision: An Incredible Journey with Yoga and Surfing through Costa Rica

Join the Envision crew as we travel to some of the most beautiful places in Costa Rica before arriving at our final destination  --  the Envision Festival in the Southern Pacific Zone of Costa Rica.  On this  trip we visit incredible locations while finding the most epic surf breaks.  Whether you are a beginner or a pro there are waves for all levels* as well as daily beachfront yoga.   When not surfing we will explore the regions we visit and get a chance to see the beautiful rainforests that blanket Costa Rica.  Our nights will be filled with music and local culture and of course always the most exotic and unique foods.

Begin the day in the warm Pacific surf in Mal Pais.  There are beach breaks and point breaks spread throughout the area.  After lunch in front of the beach we travel south to Playa de los Suecos, a gorgeous beach with tide pools and giant rock outcroppings.  
After dark we will check out the nightlife in the bustling town of Mal Pais.

surfBegin the day surfing one of Mal Pais' many breaks.  After lunch we travel to the town of Montezuma and explore the incredible waterfalls that have made this area famous.  Enjoy sunset and a yoga class at the Anamaya Retreat Center with incredible views over the Pacific.

After breakfast and a morning surf session we travel down the coast to Playa Hermosa.  En route see giant crocodiles from the bridge over the Tarcoles River.   Watch the sunset from Villas Caletas, one the best sunset viewing spots in the world and then have dinner and hit the town in the beach town of Jaco.

February 24, 2013

Morning yoga in front of the beach and then a surf session at Playa Hermosa.  After lunch we head for the tree tops and experience the rainforest canopy by zip-line.  After dinner in town we play music around the bonfire on the beach.

February 25, 2013

Start the morning with yoga and a surf session.  Then it's down to the surf town of Dominical. En route we stop in Manuel Antonio and explore the beachfront National Park, teeming with monkeys, iguanas and other wildlife.  That night we head to the bar of Envision co-founder, Josh Wendel,  for open mic night, which around Envision time promises to be full of surprises.

You guessed it...  more morning surf and yoga and then on to visit Fuente Verde, an eco-community in the hills above Dominical, where we explore confronting the challenges of living sustainably in community.  From there we visit Diamante Falls,  Costa Rica's biggest and most impressive waterfall, for sunset.

Yet more surf and yoga and then we travel further south to the town of Uvita and where the Envisioning begins for real......
